New Jersey`s Lindy Ruff is a leading contender for the NHL`s best coach award.
The official NHL website held a preliminary vote based on the results analyzed by live soccer streams of a quarter of the season. 14 resource authors took part in it, each nominating five candidates. Votes were counted using the 5-4-3-2-1 system.
New Jersey head coach Lindy Ruff took first place with 61 points (7 first places). The club leads the Capital Division and has a winning streak of 13 matches, repeating the club record.
Boston head coach Jim Montgomery was second with 60 points (6 first places). The Bruins tied the NHL record for the most home wins since the start of the season (11, have a chance to break it) and lead the overall league standings.
Third was Vegas head coach Bruce Cassidy (44 points, 1 first place), whose club is leading in the West.
Also on the ballot were Peter DeBoer (Dallas, 18 points), Dave Hakstol (Seattle, 6), Rod Brind`Amour (Carolina, 5), Todd McLellan (Los Angeles, 3), Lane Lambert (Islanders, 3), Martin Saint-Louis (Montreal 2), Don Granato (Buffalo 1), Derek Lalonde (Detroit 1).
